Q:
Why is it important to secure solar equipment to the roof rafter?
-
A:
Structurally attaching the roof rafter provides two obvious
benefits: Firstly, strength. Bolting through the roof sheathing or
clipping to the roof tile provide little or no structural benefits.
High winds can make the installation dangerous or can make for
expensive repairs to the equipment or roof. The second benefit of
rafter connection is the ability of the connection seal to remain
compressed, eliminating the possibility of roof leakage.

Q:
What types of roofs will the Tile Trac® attachment work on?
-
A: The
Tile Trac attachment is designed and engineered to provide
structural attachment on the majority of concrete tile roofing,
composition and cap sheet roof coverings. The few exceptions are
slate, clay and other tile that do not provide a cavity for the Tile
Trac® base to be bolted to.
-
Q:
What types of tools are needed to install the system?
-
A:
Ordinary installation equipment with addition of a rotary hammer.
-
Q:
Why use Tile Trac® on composition roofs?
-
A: Tile
Trac® is a turn key attachment solution for PV modules. Using the
Tile Trac® as the base for the Roof Trac™ system provides the
same structural attachment as used for a tile roof installation. The
Tile Trac® provides a compressed seal to the roof
and the sliding carriage allows for convenient alignment of the
channel.
